A few months ago, I came across a moisturizer that is perfect for the hot summer months. I love summer and I never want it to end, but that being said, I really put my skin through it in the hot weather. I want my face to be clean and glowy, but not oily, though not exactly matte, either. And that’s all before I apply a single beauty product.
And don’t even get me started on all the things I might want to wear on my face on any given day, let alone all the products I test for this site all the time. I’ve got a ton of beauty products I can whip out whenever I feel is necessary, but what I really want is to have clear skin to begin with, you know?
I would, in all honestly, give up my eventual first-born, or even more precious, my sunglasses collection, if it meant I could have perfect skin for the rest of my life. Or at least until like, 30.
Well, I’ve found the moisturizer that helps me achieve and maintain great skin no matter what.
Koh Gen Do All In One Moisture Gel, $62.
I had Koh Gen Do send this over to me because trying gel moisturizers is my life’s one true calling. I was initially struck by just how much product you got in the jar, a whopping 3.53 ounces. At $62, this moisturizer may not be the cheapest skincare product but it sure isn’t the most expensive, especially for how much you’re getting. I could break that down for you and tell you just how much you’ll be paying per ounce but I’m not going to because if I had actually studied math then I wouldn’t be writing this beauty article.
The reason this product is deemed an all in one is because it does the work of a serum, a moisturizer, and a primer! It boosts moisture to improve the look and feel of skin, while jojoba oil, shea butter, and other essential oils work their way down below the surface of your skin to restore moisture at the deepest layers. On top, it acts as a primer to soften skin, prevent moisture loss, and prep skin to make makeup apply more smoothly.
Like all Koh Gen Do products, the moisturizing gel is made with mineral-rich hot spring water and natural botanicals that help to moisturize, tighten, and ease inflammation.
That all sounds great, but I am here to tell you that this stuff really works. It’s great for my skin, so I’m guessing it would be great for yours. After a couple weeks of using this all-in-one moisturizer, I started to see real change in my skin. My face looked brighter, more even, and dare I say, totally free of any blemishes or imperfections. Good skin is hydrated skin, it's just more cooperative all around. This product is extremely moisturizing, working to penetrate to the deepest layers and locking moisture in.
What makes it great for summer is that, being a gel moisturizer, it is extremely lightweight, dries down fast, and does not leave any residue behind.
I feel like I’m not wearing anything at all, and my hair doesn’t stick to my face like it does with some other skincare products. It’s totally unscented, and it wears well, leaving your skin with just the slightest touch of glow throughout the day. It doesn’t have the effect of an illuminator, but just a subtle brightness which looks great by itself and under your fave beauty products.
I know an unscented moisturizer isn’t the flashiest beauty product but I just devoted an entire article to it, so you know it has to be good.
Are you using another moisture gel that I should try out? What are your summer beauty favorites? Tell me everything in the comments!
