Makeup can be kind of a nightmare if you don't know what you're doing. (You know who you are). The intimidation factor leaves many a woman bare-faced (or clown-faced), but this LORAC Blushing Beauty Collection from Kohl's takes a lot of the guesswork out of it for you.
Whether you have a hot date, you're going to a wedding, or just want to look more pulled-together at work, this kit is composed of the prettiest, longest-wearing mauve tones that look good on just about anyone.
I started out wearing some foundation (Urban Decay Naked Skin, because it's the best), some concealer, and some eyebrow pencil. (I refuse to let y'all see my all-but-invisible eyebrows.)
Eyes
Apply the eyeshadow in Pink Champagne over the whole lid.
Next, apply the medium shade, Mauve, to the crease. If you're one of those people who don't know where a crease is... well, we have some work to do. But I'm basically pointing to it here for you in the picture below. Think of it as the butt-crack of your eyelid. (If you don't have a crease, apply it in the gap under your brow bone.)
Apply the darkest eyeshadow shade, Bordeaux, to the outer corners of the eyes. I like to apply in a sideways V shape, starting along the lash line, moving out to the corner, and then moving back in towards the crease. BLEND AWAY. You can use the same eyeshadow brush to blend, but I like keeping a completely clean makeup brush handy to blend so there are no harsh lines.
Next, line eyes with the 3-in-1 Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil.
While it's waterproof, I wouldn't recommend using it on your lower lash line. Follow that up with the Cobra Mascara.
It's called Cobra because the brush is shaped like a cobra's hood. Seems weird, but it's actually great for following the natural shape of your eye, making it super-easy to apply.
Lips
Now, at this point you could just apply the Highly Pigmented Cream Lipstick in Duchess and be on your way, but I BEG you, please apply some blush before you walk out the door.
Cheeks
As a makeup artist, I find that people are scared of blush, and I haven't a clue as to why that is. YOU NEED TO WEAR BLUSH. Ever take a selfie and wonder why you look like a ghost? You probably didn't have enough blush on. I'm not saying you need to apply a gallon of it; I'm just saying you need not fear a little pink on your cheeks.
The Powder Cheek Stain in Rosy Glow that comes in the kit looks pretty vibrant, but applies beautifully sheer on the cheeks.
That's it, kids. How long did that take? Five minutes? LORAC did all the groundwork for you on this one, and it's just $36 for everything.
