Mandy made my day after the staff meeting this week by leaving me a love note on my desk. And I know it was a love note because it said "Love Note for Ms. Jane Pratt" right on the envelope.
And inside, it said, "I love you!"
Once, when a college boyfriend broke up with me, I burned all the love letters he had sent me over the nine months or so we were together and I still regret it. Though I would have lost them by now anyway, as I am not good about saving anything (which also makes me sad, but doesn't make me change).
I kind of consider your Open Thread comments to be little love notes to each other, because you're so supportive, non-judgmental, kind, patient, thoughtful and giving with your responses. It's really astounding and I love it about you so much. You are breaking some kind of ground with that, in my opinion, for a community as big as you are to be as kind to each other here as you are. That's probably why you've won awards and stuff.
And I don't mean that you are always always that way. We all have our highs and lows. I was a complete bitch for two days this week with no good reason for it other than maybe hormones (sorry, most everyone I came in contact with on Tuesday and Wednesday).
What kind of mood were you in this week? And if nothing is happening in your life this week to report on, first of all, great! Second, maybe you'll feel like answering one of these questions:
- Have you ever ridden on a double-decker bus like the ones that collided near our offices this week?
- Do back-to-school commercials make you nostalgic? Anxious?
- Are drones going to make us safer or invade our privacy? Or both?
- Where’s your favorite place to be alone?
- Have you ever witnessed police brutality?
If not, I’m sure you can, as always, think of things you want to talk about, too, just like so many other Open-Threaders who are ready to listen and respond to whatever it is you’ve got to say.
I’m one of those people, and I can’t wait to see what you share here, lovely love-note-writing loves (gag if you want to at that ending -- I kind of am too).
