Earlier today, we published an apology from Melissa Stetten regarding offensive and racist comments she had made a few years ago, which were only recently brought to our attention by the xoJane community.
At the time, we felt her statement was sincere and stood behind it.
Unfortunately, Melissa also made a comment on Twitter today that undermined her entire apology. After careful consideration, we've decided that we can no longer work with Melissa as a contributor for this reason.
While we continue to believe in serving as a platform for self-aware, far-reaching and diverse personal writing, we cannot tolerate racially insensitive attitudes.
